This is the classic purple shampoo job: violet sits opposite yellow, so it cancels the yellow cast that lightened and grey hair drifts into.

It is the right strength for cool blondes, greys and white hair that need regular upkeep rather than heavy correction.

If your hair is going orange rather than yellow, Icy Blonde is the stronger line to reach for. If it is going brassy-yellow, this is the one.

Wet the hair thoroughly and distribute the deep purple shampoo completely evenly over the damp strands.
Lather deeply into the hair, focusing the heaviest application on the areas exhibiting the highest concentration of unwanted yellow or brassy tones.
Rinse immediately for standard maintenance, or leave in for a few minutes for a much more intense neutralization of stubborn brass.
Rinse well until the water runs completely clear, repeating the entire process if necessary.

I washed my hair with this milkshake purple shampoo and left it in my hair for about 5-8 minutes. The results were AMAZING! My hair was super light with almost no brassiness left. This shampoo is fantastic! Plus it smells great! The ingredients are berries, but to me it smells like bubblegum. It is super pigmented and will have your hair looking purple before you rinse it out. That’s how I know it is doing it’s job of cancelling out the brassy tones. But, no worries about it staining your hair purple. I left it on for about 5 minutes or so and it rinsed right out leaving my hair a nice cool blonde. I would definitely recommend it to all my fellow blondes out there.

I historically haven’t been a fan of purple shampoo because it makes my hair super greasy and heavy and the tone never spreads evenly so I’ll have golden and platinum tones together. Causes Itchy Scalp

I used a value priced purple shampoo from Tresemme daily for several months with great results. When that ran out I bought Milk Shake Silver Shine shampoo on sale. I almost immediately experienced itchy scalp. I stopped using the shampoo and switched to a non-purple product with natural oils to moisturize my scalp and the itching stopped. A week later I washed my hair once with Milk Shake Silver Shine and the itching returned. Apparently there is something in the ingredients that is causing an allergic reaction. I can not use this product.

This was my first time using this brand and I used it a handful of times. Every time I used it, my hair was dry and had this awful coating on it. I asked a cosmetologist friend what could be doing this to my hair and she said it was the ammonium lauryl sulfate. Do not buy!!!! As soon as I saw sulfate—-ding, ding!
