Milk_shake Shampoo

Every milkshake (milk_shake) shampoo we stock, across every range we carry. They differ by what has been added rather than by how hard they clean, which is the opposite of how most people choose one.

So pick by what your hair needs putting back or taking out: pigment for brassiness, moisture for dryness, protein for damage, or nothing in particular for everyday washing.

The shampoos are below. Which one to pick, and what is actually in them, sits under the products.

About this collection

Which milk_shake shampoo is right for you

  • Coloured hair that is fading. Colour Care Shampoo, a gentle milk-protein cleanse. Colour Care Flower Fragrance Shampoo does the same job without milk protein, which makes it the vegan one, and its floral scent lasts past the rinse. It is on back-order, and the dispatch date is on its product page.
  • Blonde or grey going yellow. Silver Shine Shampoo. Violet pigment, with blackberry, raspberry, bilberry and strawberry extracts.
  • Platinum or ash blonde going orange. Icy Blonde Shampoo. Black pigment rather than violet, because orange needs a different correction from yellow.
  • Curls and waves. Curl Passion Shampoo, with babassu and pracaxi oils, light enough not to drop the curl pattern.
  • Dry hair. Moisture & More Shampoo, carrying hyaluronic acid and papaya extract.
  • Hair that snaps or splits. Integrity Shampoo, the repair line, with amaranth seed extract. On back-order, with the dispatch date on its product page.
  • Everyday washing, nothing in particular to fix. Make My Day Shampoo, safe to use as often as you wash.
  • Hard water, or build-up that conditioner cannot get past. Deep Detox Shampoo, a clarifying wash with salicylic acid, for every three or four weeks rather than every day. On back-order, with the dispatch date on its product page.

Are they sulphate free?

Most are not. Nearly every milk_shake shampoo we hold a full ingredient list for contains a sulphate, usually ammonium lauryl sulfate, and the Colour Care shampoos contain more than one.

Two are the exception, and the claim is printed on the bottle rather than ours to make. Integrity Shampoo is labelled "sulfate / paraben free" on the pack, and Deep Detox Shampoo is labelled "paraben/sls/sles free". Deep Detox is a clarifying wash for every three or four weeks rather than an everyday shampoo, so Integrity is the one to start with if you wash often. Both are on back-order, with the dispatch date on each product page.

Each product page carries the full ingredient list where the brand has published one, so you can check before you buy.

How much to use, and how often

Around 10ml a wash, roughly two pumps for mid-length hair, so a 300ml bottle works out at about thirty washes. Toning shampoos are the exception. Most people use one every second or third wash and an ordinary shampoo in between, so a bottle lasts longer.

Milkshake or milk_shake?

The brand writes its name with an underscore, milk_shake, but most people search for it as milkshake or milk shake. Same brand, same products.

Where to buy milk_shake shampoo in the UK

Innate Beauty is an authorised UK stockist, not the brand's distributor. Orders ship from within the UK, so there is no customs wait and nothing to pay on the doorstep, and delivery is set out on our delivery page. The whole brand, range by range, is on the milk_shake hub, and if you are still unsure the hair quiz points you at a routine rather than a single bottle.

Check which milk_shake shampoos are sulphate free: all nine ingredient lists, how Integrity and Deep Detox differ, and their back-order availability.
